Why Does The World Keep Going?
Question- Why does God let the world keep going?
Answer- 2 Peter 3:9- “the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count
slackness, but is long-suffering to us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come
to repentance.” God does not need time in order to exist as God. He is eternal and always has
been. He has no beginning and no end. However, we are time bound creatures. We do have a
beginning and an end.
In God’s matchless integrity, He has loved the world enough to send His only Son. Jesus dies on
the cross for us so that we can be saved by the blood of His perfect Son. Because Jesus died and
was buried and arose, He showed His power over death. We can live forever with the Lord, if
we access the blood of His Son in the waters of baptism (Romans 6:3,4).
God wants all men everywhere to come to repentance. He lets time continue it would seem as a
testimony to His longsuffering and love for mankind. He is giving men the blessing over and
over (as long as time continues) of having one more chance to be saved. Sadly, however, there
are people who will die never knowing the wonderful blessing available through Christ. But the
Lord keeps time continuing (for now). We do not know when it will end but when it does, we
have had every chance to be ready for His coming. If we do not take advantage of his
redemption through the blood of His Son, we will be lost, if we do and stay faithful then we will
be saved. James tells us our life is a vapor that appears for a short time and then vanishes away
(James 4:14). Many live there lives as if they will always have time to get things right, but we
do not know when our lives will end. Be ready to be with the Lord now. We are not promised
another day.
